As the Istanbul Technical University Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences, we have signed a critical cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion (ÇEM). Within this framework, our Institute will develop scientific solutions aimed at increasing our country’s resilience to the destructive impacts of climate change and extreme weather events, particularly mass movements.

At the launch event of the Türkiye Desertification Model: Sensitivity and Hazard Maps, hosted by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the desertification sensitivity of the country and its future risks were presented in detail using scientific methods, with contributions from the ITU Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences.
