The project titled “Investigation of the Climate of the European and Mediterranean Region Using the Türkiye Global Climate Model,” led by our Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences faculty member Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ilıcak, has been selected for funding under the ITU BAP Research Universities Support Program.
The aim of the project is to perform Mediterranean-focused global climate simulations by integrating a new ocean model into the fully coupled climate model developed in Türkiye (the Turkish Global System Model). The project seeks to investigate the climate dynamics of the Europe–Mediterranean region using fully coupled global climate models. By incorporating ocean and sea ice models into the previously developed variable-resolution (VR) global atmosphere–land model, the project will explore the climate dynamics of the region.
We congratulate our faculty member and wish him continued success.
