Assoc. Prof. Orkan Özcan’s project employs a GIS-based MCDA approach using AHP to identify suitable sites for Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) in Istanbul. Findings show that 24.5% of the city's area has high to very high MAR potential, particularly in Çatalca, Silivri, and Şile. These findings provide a strategic framework for decision-makers to implement MAR techniques, such as infiltration ponds and injection wells, to enhance groundwater reserves and improve flood control.
