Environmental and Sustainability Expert Umay Yılmaz is Joining our Climate Lecture

As part of the course YSB 572E - Climate Change: Science, Impacts, and Mitigation conducted by Prof. Dr. Ömer Lütfi Şen at Eurasia Institute of Earth Sciences building, in the Prof. Dr. Aral OKAY lecture hall, Environmental and Sustainability Expert Umay Yılmaz will contribute with an in-person lecture on "COP29: Key Insights, Highlights, and Outcomes" on Thursday, November 27, starting at 10:00 AM.

TEDx Spaker and Expert Umay Yılmaz will provide attendees with an overview of the process of the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. She will share her impressions and insights regarding the main topics discussed, events, negotiations, and outcomes of the COP29 summit.

Who is Umay Yılmaz?
Umay Yılmaz was graduated from Anadolu University, Environmental Engineering. Shortly after, she started working for projects to establish a healthy and sustainable recycling system in Turkey in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, institutions, associations, and organizations.
During her career, she led several projects with universities, associations, foundations, organizations, and received various awards for her efforts. Yılmaz provided consultancy services on environmental sustainability topics from 2018 to 2020. Yılmaz has a TEDx talk titled "My Plan to Save the World."
Currently, she works as the Secretary General of OMÜD (Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturers Association) and also provides keynote speeches on sustainability, circular economy and European Green Deal.
