Climate and Marine Sciences

  • I am a data scientist with main focus on air quality modeling, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and hydrology. Currently, I am working on the impacts of dust emission on the air quality of the Middle East countries. Our current project entitled "Examining the Influence of Transported Dust from the Arabian Peninsula on Turkey's Air Quality using the WRF-Chem Model and Remote Sensing Technology aims to investigate the impacts of climate change on the air quality of Turkey and neighboring countries." Within this project, I have been investigating the impacts of drought on the activation of transported dust from the Arabian Desert and its effects on air quality, particularly in Middle Eastern countries like Turkey. My research areas encompass tropospheric remote sensing and air quality modeling using WRF-Chem and WRF/CMAQ models, and I have published several papers in reputable journals, including "Atmospheric Environment," "Atmospheric Research," and "Science of the Total Environment." Additionally, I have also conducted research in hydrology and climatology, with published papers in these fields as well.

  • I am a geomorphologist mainly focused on hillslope processes. I investigate landslide dynamics, susceptibility, hazard, and risk in the components of slope processes. I create models for my studies using various tools in GIS and Remote Sensing. Presently, I am conducting a comprehensive study on lateral spreading along the stream bank based on the seismic effect. I have been detecting Geomorphologic Change (GCD) using the temporal Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). In this context, I am leading a project titled “High Resolution 2- and 3-Dimensional Digital Elevation Model in the Eastern Mediterranean Basin” under the TUBITAK 2218- National Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program.
